Army Band Visit

Apr 4, 2025

On Thursday, 20th of March, the Cork Army Band came to our school to perform. They played a lot of Disney songs, explained each family and instrument, and even let us sing along with them.

They started by explaining who they are and what they do, and it was very fun to watch. The conductor, Noel, explained everything thoroughly, but also in a way that was fun and easy for us to understand. They went through and showed us each instrument family, which consisted of brass, percussion and woodwind. I think a certain highlight was when they were practicing and they played HOTTOGO by Chappell Roan. Everyone was singing along and doing the dance.

They played an entire run through of The Greatest Showman, George Ezra’s ‘Shotgun’, Clarinet Escube, Ireland’s Call, and even Baby Shark! It was a lot of fun and a really beautiful performance with such talented musicians. During Ireland’s call, one of the members got up, I believe his name was Keith, and did a beautiful vocal performance.

At the end, they all thanked us for listening and the pure, kind soul of the conductor had decided to rid of us of our homework. May his pillow be forever cold on both sides and his food be the correct temperature for all of eternity.
